Best booty workout

I saw the hashtag #beatwritersbutt on Instagram and I couldn’t resist participating. Writers spend a lot of time sitting on their butts, so how do we combat the dreaded writers’ butt? Well, with the best booty workout of course! I previously shared my favourite YouTube channels for free workouts and the best Jillian Michaels DVDs (many are lower body focused), but today we’ll dive a bit deeper.

Since I write for both my day job and side gig, it’s especially important for me to make sure I don’t live my life sitting on my butt. I pace during conference calls, walk Buster the boxer at lunch, and break a pointed sweat at least six days a week. I used to spend hours at the gym, but I’ve learned to train smarter rather than harder from the comfort of home and, when possible, outside.

  1. I hit submit too quickly! We also walk our dogs around our neighborhood twice a day. We miss working out at the gym, but we’re getting good cardio.

    1. I found the gym a logistical pain. It seemed to take forever to get there, do a class, get home, shower…I felt like my night was gone! Working out at home in the morning is so much better for my lifestyle, though I definitely miss spin class, hot yoga and certain gym machines.

      1. We tried the evenings, and it just didn’t work out well, no pun intended. I do miss the evening yoga classes I went to twice a week. We are going to do a home-workout set up eventually. Al wants to get a TRX system for our garage.

  2. Fantastic post! I also pace during conference calls. I rarely sit at work anymore, thanks to the blessing of a standing desk! It’s revolutionized my work life, and I’ve seen so many physical and mental differences. I like to think it makes up for my hours in the car commuting every day!
