Parent Associations at John Pritchard School

We have several parent associations operating at John Pritchard School. All of them will be highlighted on this page.

Parent Advisory Council (PAC)

John Pritchard's Parent Advisory Council (PAC) functions as an advisory group to the school administration on matters of policy, issues, activities, organization, and safety, for all the students in kindergarten through Grade 8.

Meetings are held from September through June. Elections for positions are held in September. There are three executive positions available: president, vice-president and secretary. All parents/guardians are welcome to attend any or all meetings.

Annual PAC sponsored events are:

Christmas Craft Sale ~ Our only fundraiser, held in November each year. There are up to 50 crafters who book tables with us for this event. The PAC holds a bake sale the day of the craft sale, as well as a silent auction. There is food available throughout the day (coffee, donuts, pizza, drinks). There is NO ADMISSION CHARGE for this craft sale event.

Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week ~ Held in February/March each year as a way of showing appreciation to all school staff for their hard work. Events include draws and baking for staff coffee breaks. The week culminates with an appreciation luncheon.

John Pritchard Band Parents Association (JPBPA)

The John Pritchard Band Parents Association (JPBPA) is a group consisting of parents/guardians who meet once a month to provide a volunteer base to enable students to attend and participate in Concerts, Special Performances, Festivals and Band Trips.

The JPBPA holds an annual AGM where the parents/guardians of John Pritchard Band students (membership) elect executive officers to organize events for the upcoming school year.

The JPBPA funds clinicians and workshops for Band students, and purchases equipment that would otherwise not be available due to division budget restrictions.

The JPBPA subsidizes and organizes two major concerts per year – winter and spring - at a church in the community.

The John Pritchard Band Program has been recognized as a highly successful program due to the high level of parental support, participation, commitment and the excellent Band Directors.

It is important to keep in mind that the JPBPA only fundraises to cover its costs and give students an opportunity to raise funds for trips.

The JPBPA is always open to your comments and suggestions.
